JTA Carries Feature on Jewish Service

The Coalition worked with JTA and several of our affiliates to develop a feature story profiling Jewish service programs taking place this summer throughout the US. The story provides a vivid illustration of the connection between civic engagement and Jewish engagement. It also portrays the ability of volunteer service to bridge diverse Jewish perspectives and backgrounds as participants work together on issues of common concern.  Full story

Gathering the Tribe
by Max Klau

I always felt that my experiences with Jewish service connected me to a particular tribe of Jews: idealistic, hardworking, socially conscious, and passionate enough about Jewish values and tikkun olam to put themselves in some incredibly challenging situations. This past June at a Jewish retreat center in Connecticut , the time came for a gathering of this particular tribe. For the first time ever, the Jewish Coalition for Service brought together over 80 alumni of some 30 different programs.   Personal Reflection & Retreat Report
